The shooting incident in Tuscon was horrible. A supermarket on a Saturday seems like a very safe place. As a child we always shopped on Saturday morning and as I flash back over the decades, I remember being a girl scout leader and spending Saturday morning selling cookies at the supermarket. We were there for the boy scouts too and so many Saturday mornings brought us to the store to grab the treats and oranges for one of the kids soccer or baseball games.
How could this symbol of American culture become the location of a bloody slaughter.
As I looked at the shooter, the thought came to mind, wasn't there a youth group that could have offered him a safe haven and a friendly ear?
Perhaps there was and his problems were just too complicated but I know one thing. We must pray for our country and for the shooting to stop.
